Watching my son, I suddenly realized his Birthday was just a few days away. I had prayed that I would have the opportunity to celebrate his birthday. I Remember how excited he was to turn six. He was looking forward to celebrating his birthday at school.
When I picked him up from school a few days before this happened, he told me the teacher said that when a student has a birthday, the class makes birthday cards for them. He was ecstatic to hear this.
Well, his Birthday had arrived. Even though his eyes were open, he was not aware of what was going on around him. That didn't change the fact that we needed to celebrate him. That morning I bought stuff for his birthday, presents, decorations and cake. I decorated
His room and made it feel like his room Ay home.
My sister and I celebrated with him. We sang him happy birthday; the staff took presents for him. It was a lovely day to celebrate that he was alive! He had turned six, and we had many, many more birthdays to come!
His teacher had his classmates make birthday cards. One of the teachers dropped them off To me at the Hospital. That act Of kindness meant So much to us. His teacher and classmates are incredibly supportive. We are lucky to be part of that community.
I now have told him how we celebrated his birthday at the hospital. His response to that was. " No, mommy, I am still 5. I didn't blow the candle out. So it doesn't count. It only counts when you blow out the candle!" Lol
So now you know the secret to staying young! Do not blow the candles on the cake out!
