One year Ago!

It has been a year and a few days since my son’s injury. The holidays were hard, but nothing like this month has felt.

When I was at the hospital, not knowing what to expect, I needed hope. I googled stuff even though I was advised not to. But one particular person. Mrs. P.E. shared a family story with me. Someone in her family had similar injuries. The doctors didn't give an excellent prognosis for her family member. But that person is alive, living independently, and attending college. Living life! if I didn't thank you for this incredible gift of hope you gave me. I apologize; it meant so much to me. Thank you, Mrs. P. E

To remember the anguish, I felt a year ago makes me incredibly thankful. I like to share in detail all the milestones my son has accomplished thus far with all of you. (Whoever reads this :) lol )

But I did want to share how he is a year after his injury.

My son can talk, eat on his own,

walk, run, climb, kick, punch, and swing. His body is getting stronger every day. He works hard to regain what he remembers he was able to do. We do have some physical challenges to overcome, like his ataxia. But he is a persistent little guy. He has found ways to work around the ataxia in his right arm.

His vision isn't the same. His left eye has some complications that might need surgery. His vision doesn’t slow him down.

We have a lot of challenges to overcome; however, we try to focus on all our blessings. We are thankful for what his body can do.

He is still the cheerful, sweet, kind little guy he has always been. He is him!

When I think back to where we were last year and where we are now, I cannot believe how much he has accomplished. I can't wait to see what my son will achieve in his recovery in the next year and beyond!
