Wish upon a Star

On a non-eventful Saturday afternoon, K comes to hug me. He tells me he loves me, and I tell him I love him back. K has always been sweet, but this injury has made him sweeter.

After he hugged me, he stopped and said, “Mommy, if you see a shooting start, can you tell me?” I said yes, of course. Why? He responded with, “ I want to wish for my eye to get better; it has been taking a long time.”

Hearing those words shattered my heart. I never knew your heart could constantly be shattering. I smiled and hugged him as I told him we would stargaze and hope for a shooting star. I assured him that he had worked hard and his eye was healing. It's taking its time, but we must keep hoping and working.

If you see a shooting star, maybe you can join us in wishing for K’s eye to continue to heal. 😍
